He's pretty much the same as he was back in Melee, with the same move set, power, and light weight.
Mewtwo is one of the more powerful characters in the game, but that also has some drawbacks. His psychic powers make him incredibly easy to launch off-screen, so it's a trade-off, you send your opponents soaring but you get launched easily yourself.
Those who bought and registered Smash bros. for 3DS and Wii U got a free download code, but it's okay if you didn't, you can still buy him from the DLC shop. If you happen to be online battling and run into mewtwo, be cautious, his attacks don't have a very wide range, except for shadow ball, but they all do a lot of damage. your best bet is to get in quick and do some damage, then get away before he can hit you. or keep him in the air and don't let him attack you.
if you're playing as mewtwo, hit them with shadow ball, get in close and use your dash attack, then use your standard attack and up smash to really rack up the damage. if they try to use a projectile, the side special, confusion will send it right back at them. When they start smoking, use the down special, disable to stun them long enough for you to charge up. the more damage they've taken, the longer they'll be stunned. While they're standing there, a down smash, side smash or fully charged shadow ball will take them out with no problem.
Now you know about Mewtwo, and hopefully you're prepared for battling with your friends with the DLC on their system. Now go forth and show them how you Smash!
